About Purpose of Position: Senior Manager: Transactions Jobs at Transnet

Position Purpose:
•To lead the strategic development and preparation of regional and international investments, that create new revenue streams and exponential, sustainable growth opportunities for Transnet through the development of innovative value propositions and the establishment of viable commercial solutions.
•The Senior Manager/Head if Transaction will be responsible for overseeing the portfolio of Transnet investment analysis, evaluations, provide post-transaction portfolio management support, and value addition.
•The individual will be a member of the Growth and Diversification management team. The main objective of the Growth and Diversification team is to identify and evaluate investment opportunities, execute the transaction, manage the investment and ensure optimal returns for stakeholders when exiting the transaction. The individual should have a passion for the development of the African continent, building businesses and a shared sense of purpose

Transnet Senior Manager: Transactions job requirements are following:-

Qualifications & Experience:
•B-degree in Commerce, Accounting Finance, Engineering or related field
•Postgraduate level qualification such as MBA will be an advantage
•Minimum 15 years’ experience in complex operations and commercial environment, management consulting or financial
advisory business of which at least 7 years at a senior managerial level.
•Experience in private sector participation transactions and cross-functional transactional management
•Experience in related management consulting, entrepreneurial and/or business incubation in the region is an advantage

Senior Manager: Transactions Job Responsibility for Transnet Job Vacancy

Position outputs:
•Understands and can validate an investment thesis;
•Ideation and identification of new investment opportunities in key strategic sectors / investment themes.
•Networking and identifying the opportunities in the Market and leading the development of selected opportunity through
rigorous stages of preparation, investment thesis and establishment.
•Origination and preparations of end-to-end Transactions and Deals including support in fin financing solutions and structured
finance transactions.
•Oversight of the execution of transaction services engagements with Operating divisions, including due diligence, business
valuation, financial modelling and select advisory engagements, performing business and financial analysis, conducting
industry research, report writing and proposal preparation, under the guidance of the General manager – Growth and
•Lead a team of transaction managers to execute transactions, including due diligence, business valuation, financial
modelling and select advisory engagements at Transnet operating divisions.
•Develop collaborative and innovative commercial and funding solutions for each new business opportunity by directing
experienced transaction managers.
•Acquire missing capabilities and improved service offerings through regional and international partnerships, acquisitions,
mergers and other innovative structures.
•Motivate to secure the required capital investment and innovative funding models for the regional and international business
•Exploit technology and digital solutions to shape and enhance the commercial propositions
•Establish partnerships with other regional and international organisations and optimise alignments with government’s
industrial development programmes to unlock investment opportunities, economic zones and sectors that can create jobs
and skills.
•Present strong submissions on the proposed growth strategies and new business propositions to the relevant governance
structures within Transnet and to regulatory authorities as required.
•Ensure that risk management oversight is established for the portfolios of new businesses under development.
•Develop and lead productive interaction with relevant regional and international external stakeholders across private sector
and government.
•Track and monitor employee and third party service providers on performance, provide performance feedback in accordance
with agreed policies and procedures and take corrective action where required..
•Ensure compliance with regulations, Transnet policies and delegation frameworks in all transactions.
•Manage various work streams on a deal and co-ordinate with Operating division managers, co-investors and service
•Development and maintenance of investment models, portfolio data, and supporting analytics.
•Networking, liaising, and maintaining of relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
•Excellent financial modelling skills. Preference for private equity modelling and structuring investments.
•Oversight of bidding processes where required for each approved new business partnership transaction.
•Wide understanding of different markets and business models, and ability to judge the quality of investments;
•Presentation capabilities and refined verbal and written communications skills;
•A high degree of proficiency with various software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, in particular excellent
financial modelling in Excel and proposal/presentation skills in PowerPoint;
•Exercise sound business judgement and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis;
•Work efficiently under pressure and ability to meet tight deadlines;
•Present sufficiently detailed, thorough work, and maintain accurate records;
